ROANOKE, Va. -

A local bed and breakfast is helping to put Roanoke on the map when it comes to the hospitality industry.

The Inn on Campbell has been in business for less than two years and it was just featured in the latest edition of Southern Living magazine.

Just a few months ago, innkeepers Keith and Cindy Hummer also received a 2013 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor. The award means they ranked in the top ten percent when it comes to hospitality venues across the world.

They say these titles are a great way to boost business and to keep people coming to downtown Roanoke.

"It gives you notoriety,” said Keith. “Already people are calling here because they saw the article. I think it creates an awareness and shows them the inn is unique."

The Hummers originally bought the building on Campbell Street and lived in it by themselves for years. They decided to open their own business and turn it into a bed and breakfast in January 2012 after the economy took a toll on their jobs.

The doors have been open since and they said business has been steady.
