ROANOKE, Va. -

A local developer hopes to breath new life into Roanoke's old health department building.

Ed Walker has proposed buying the property on 8th Street for $10 in exchange of promising to renovate the site within three years.

The building currently sits vacant but the city has hoped to revive the West End area in recent years.

Walker's past renovation projects include the old Patrick Henry Hotel and most recently the River House.

A public hearing on converting the property for commercial use has been set for August 19th at 7 p.m.
