ROANOKE, Va. -

A southern Virginia organization is working to help victims of two recent natural disasters.

Spirit FM and God's Pit Crew are teaming up to collect and send necessities to help victims of both the Midwest tornadoes and the Philippines typhoon.

Volunteers spent the day at the Bonsack Wal-Mart taking donations on Wednesday.

Pit Crew had been working on filling these Blessing Buckets to send to the Philippines when the tornadoes struck leaving them low on supplies.

Organizers said it's great to see so many people helping complete strangers in their time of need.

"It's amazing to see people walk up and it doesn't matter if they have one bag with a toothbrush and toothpaste or a box,” said God’s Pit Crew Operations Manager John Cline. “You can see on their face. They come up and they're smiling and are excited to give and be involved."

Another collection is scheduled for Thursday.

It starts at noon at the Lynchburg Wal-Mart on Wards Road with Tree of Life Ministries of Lynchburg.

The biggest needs are:

- Personal Hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs & brushes, deodorant, hand sanitizer, etc.)

- Toilet Paper

- Paper Towels

- Bottled Water
