A local child advocacy group wants to teach parents about preventing child sex abuse. The goal is to prevent child abuse.

The Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center is holding an educational /outreach prevention program. It's meant to change beliefs, actions and attitudes about child sexual abuse.

“It's very prevalent for one thing and we never realize that our children are in danger from somebody that is not a stranger,” said education facilitator, Wendie Dungan. “Kids know all about stranger danger but we are not aware of the facts of all the people in our community that can harm our children sexually.”

The organization will hold a class this Friday in Rocky Mount. For information on how to take part click here.
