LYNCHBURG, Va. -

Members of a Lynchburg congregation are trying to figure out why their church is such a popular target for thieves.

Chestnut Hill Baptist Church on Fort Avenue has been burglarized three times in the last two months.

The latest break-in happened last Wednesday.  Crooks also hit the church on Mother's Day, right before a Sunday service.

Cash is the main thing that's been taken, but some valuable items have also been stolen.

Church leaders say insurance will cover their losses, but they're still disappointed that someone would repeatedly steal from a house of worship.

"It feels like we've been violated," said Matt Kozma, a minister to students at the church.  "Apart from that it hasn't really kept us off track from being able to do the work that God has called us to do."

If you know anything about the break-ins, call Lynchburg Police at 434-455-6169 or Central Virginia Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900.
