LYNCHBURG, Va. -

A minor league basketball team in Lynchburg is pushing its franchise to the next level.

The "Lynchburg Legends" are joining the Premier Basketball League for the 2014 season.

The PBL is considered the second best minor league for basketball, behind the NBA Development League.

Since there's already another team called "legends" in the PBL, the hill city squad will now be known as the "Lynchburg Titans."

"We look forward to the transition," said Titans CEO, Dereck Polley.  "It's going to be a better opportunity for our players, more exposure for our city and our fans, and for the teams when they come in."

The Titans will continue to play their home games at the Lynchburg City Armory, but hope to one day move to the civic center that's being studied for Lynchburg.
