A Lynchburg-area organization is collecting supplies for the typhoon-damaged Philippines.
Gleaning for the World is collecting aid, and sending it to organizations permanently located in Manila. According to a news release, Gleaning for the World says it has already provided funds to purchase supplies directly in the Philippines for distribution.
“These families are out of water, and have only 24-48 hours left of food,” Rev. Ron Davidson, president and founder of Gleaning For The World, wrote in a news release. “We have relief in there now, but they need more. There are hundreds of thousands left with nothing.”
From Nov. 12 through Nov. 14 supplies can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Sam’s Club on Wads Road in Lynchburg, and the Walmart on Route 460 in Bedford.
Also, products can be dropped off at Word of Truth Ministries on Peterscreek Road in Roanoke.
Items that are needed include rice, hand sanitizer, over-the-counter drugs, powdered milk, flashlights and batteries, canned meat, powdered baby formula, diapers, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels, washcloths.
