LYNCHBURG, Va. -

Lynchburg's River Ridge Mall announced on Tuesday that it will implement a youth escort policy during weekends.

Starting July 25, mall visitors under age 18 will need to have a parent or guardian with them after 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The mall cites an "uncomfortable atmosphere" and safety concerns for this new rule. Other area malls have enacted similar rules.

Teens who work at the mall will be allowed to be there during those time periods. Mall management plans on issuing identification cards to those employees.
