A man convicted of sexually abusing two children last year in Blacksburg was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Tuesday in Montgomery County court.

Danny Dillow, 48, was previously found guilty of putting his hand on the crotch of an 11-year-old girl in April 2012 at the Blacksburg Public Library.

In a separate incident, Dillow was also found guilty of putting his hand on the buttocks of a 7-year-old girl who was shopping with her mom at a Blacksburg grocery store. On that same day, officers had the Blacksburg Public Library under surveillance and identified Dillow as a suspect. He was already a registered sex offender and was not allowed to have contact with children, or visit the library.

Dillow admitted to visiting the library, and video showed him entering the Kroger.

“Prison is the only way to guarantee that Dillow will not touch another child. Given his prior status as a sex offender this was an appropriate case to seek the maximum sentence,” Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney Mary Pettitt wrote in a news release.

Dillow has been in jail since his arrest. He was also placed on probation for 15 years and ordered not to have contact with children.
