The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man accused of impersonating an officer.

John Anderson, 43, of Independence, is charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer, abduction and brandishing a firearm.

According to the sheriff’s office, residents who live on Fulton Road said Anderson approached them from the woods outside their home and held them at gunpoint. Anderson was reported to be armed with a shotgun and wearing camouflage.

Anderson said he was an ATF agent and allegedly claimed he was searching for people growing marijuana. He ordered the residents to raise their hands and give him their identification. After the residents complied, Anderson retreated back into the woods.

According to authorities, Anderson was last seen driving a green 1996 Chevy S10 truck in the Fulton Road area of Independence.
