ROANOKE, Va. -

Market Square is back open for business.

Friday was the first day that market vendors could set up in the square.

Tables were also out for people to eat lunch.  The city will have a ribbon cutting later this month.

Despite losing 26 parking spaces, people we spoke to are excited about how the project turned out.

"It's definitely inviting, you know. There's not a bunch of cars in the way you can still hang out and enjoy the weather," said Chris McCorkle.  McCorkle was one of the many people who ate lunch on the patio tables.

Vendors we spoke to say they're excited for Saturday's good weather and expect the square to be busy.
