Wallops Island, Va. -

It met a fiery end Wednesday afternoon, but the capsule that lifted off from Virginia last month, and carried supplies to the International Space Station has completed its mission.

The Cygnus spacecraft left the International Space Station Tuesday morning.

It arrived there almost a month ago, after a successful launch from the NASA Wallops Island Flight Facility.

The supply mission was a demonstration for Orbital Sciences and the Cygnus capsule. More flights will follow from the launch site on Virginia's Eastern Shore.

Cygnus was destroyed as it reentered earth's atmosphere at 2:15 PM Wednesday.
