Motorcycle driver charged after high-speed chase on Route 460 in Thaxton
The driver had to be airlifted to the hospital after crashing
A man who crashed his motorcycle Friday during a high-speed chase with law enforcement in Bedford County has been charged.
A Bedford County deputy clocked the motorcycle traveling 78 miles per hour on Route 460 West in the Thaxton area shortly after 7 p.m. Friday. The deputy tried to stop the motorcycle, but the driver started traveling at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
As the driver tried to turn onto East Main Street/Link Road off Route 460, the driver lost control and crashed. Alexander Turner, 23, was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Turner was released from the hospital Sunday and charged with felony eluding a police officer and driving with a revoked license. Turner is free on bond.
