FLUVANNA CO., Va. -

Two men are in jail facing multiple drug charges after $930,000 worth of marijuana was seized by state and local law enforcement as a result of an ongoing investigation in Fluvanna County.

Floyd Suddarth, 65, of Fluvanna faces charges including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, conspiracy to manufacture marijuana, conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm and marijuana.

David C. Ragland, Jr., 64, of Schuyler in Nelson County is also charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, conspiracy to manufacture marijuana and conspiracy to possess marijuana.

Suddarth and Ragland were arrested on October 2 as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Virginia State Police and local law enforcement.

On September 21, state police received a tip from a concerned citizen about marijuana plants he/she discovered growing in a field off Kidds Dairy Road in Fluvanna County.

110 marijuana plants approximately 10 to 12 feet in height and worth an estimated street value of $330,000 were recovered as a result of the initial investigation.

Search warrants for Ragland and Suddarth’s homes were served and further investigation yielded an additional 172 pounds of marijuana, about $14,000 in cash, and approximately 41 weapons. The 172 pounds of marijuana have an estimated street value of $602,000.

Both Ragland and Suddarth were taken to the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange after their arrest.

More charges are pending in Nelson County as the investigation continues.
