During most nice days, you'll find Terri Patterson and her family on Salem's Greenway.
It was during one of those trips last year- the idea came to her.
"Last summer, we were out with the younger kids walking and just started wondering if there's a market for it, and then just started thinking about it more," she explains.
When Patterson's family situation changed, she went from stay at home mom, to business owner and "On the Greenway Bicycle and Tube" was born.
Right now, bikes and helmets are ready to go.
But, when it get a little warmer, Tubing will also be offered.
"We'll come down from Greenhill Park down to this area right here," explains Patterson pointing from behind the business, which backs up to the Roanoke River.
Patterson and her team will drop guests at Greenhill Park and a little over an hour later they'll be back here.
"We definitely want to promote the Greenway & river. Like I said, we have done it for a long time and we think it's beautiful. I think everybody should be able to use it," says Patterson smiling.
Salem says the business is one of a kind in the city and says it really speaks to a need in the community.
The bike portion of the business opens Tuesday, April 15th.
Tubing will open in May once it warms up.
