Minutes can matter when someone is missing. The Rocky Mount Police Department says it's better equipped to find a person.

The device is a watch-like radio transmitter that helps authorities pin-point the missing person, especially those with Alzheimer's, dementia, autism and Down Syndrome. The department says it found there was a need for the device in our area. It's been used around the country to help find missing people.

“With this program it maybe give them a little bit of more sense of security that they can call us and hopefully find them in a very reasonable and short time, typically in 30 minutes, said Rocky Mount Lt. Danny Brabham.

Two grants awarded to the police department paid for the devices. You can contact police to find out if someone qualifies.
