ROANOKE, Va. -

A new grocery store could be coming to Roanoke.

The city of Roanoke has received a rezoning request for property at the intersection of Orange Avenue and King Street.

The application calls for the demolition of the old Kroger building there. A new store and six-island fuel center would replace it.

The developer hasn't revealed the name of the company that plans to open there, but a spokesman for Kroger says the company has no plans to re-open a store in that location.
