It's newest addition for tourists and people in the city who want a quick history lesson.

Four or five pillars are filled with the biggest things that rocked Danville, like the Wreck of the Old '97, Danville's part in the Civil War, and the rise and fall of the textile industry.

They also name the top 14 historical markers and buildings to visit in Danville and list attractions and things to do in Pittsylvania County and Caswell County, North Carolina.

This is a project from the Danville Historical Society called Learn, Explore, Enjoy.

"It's one of the first truely tangible efforts with heritage tourism and community outreach that we have in the central location," said Sarah Latham, the President of the Danville Historical Society.

There are also brochures nearby that explain more about the area and give recommendations on what to do during a visit or a stay-cation.

This is centralized on Main Street in Danville in an area known as Millionaire's Row where there are often guided walking tours. This now serves as the main gathering spot for those tours.
