ROANOKE CO., Va. -

A new traffic pattern started to take shape on route 221 Wednesday.

As of lunchtime, crews were still working on signage and striping the road.

But, by dinner time, a new pattern was phased on to the new bridge and northbound lanes.

Crews will now work on milling, paving and cleaning the southbound lanes.

The route 221 project to straighten this once windy road is expected to be finished this month.

V-DOT says it's still on time.
