FOREST, Va. -

Most high school students have to wait for their college acceptance letters to come in the mail.

A Bedford County teen received her invitation in-person.

Representatives of Queens University in Charlotte showed up at Jefferson Forest High School Friday morning to surprise Alana Barnett.

The college is awarding her with a Presidential Scholarship, which will cover all of the tuition costs for her degree.

"I'm hoping to study music therapy, which I'm really excited about," Barnett said.  "I love music and I really hope to have opportunities that will help me be the best I can be in helping people through music."

More than 300 students applied for presidential scholarships at Queens.  Barnett is one of only seven students nationwide who were chose to receive the honor.
