A second person has died in a in a single-engine plane crash in Middlesex County on Sunday.

Virginia State Police announced that a passenger in the plane, Misty Dawn McIntyre, died Monday morning. She was 48 and from Newport, Virginia.

58-year-old Stephen L. Myers of Christiansburg died in the accident. He was the pilot. Myers was a local dentist.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.


State and federal authorities are investigating a single-engine plane crash in Middlesex County that killed the pilot and injured a passenger.

Virginia State Police identified the pilot as 58-year-old Stephen L. Myers of Christiansburg.

Sgt. Michelle Anaya tells media outlets that the 1968 Cessna 150 crashed shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday in Topping.

Anaya says a passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. The passenger wasn't identified.

State police and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.

The 1968 Cessna 150 crashed in a field not far from a small airport about 60 miles east of Richmond on Sunday afternoon.

The pilot, a local dentist, died.

A helicopter flew a woman, who was also in the plane, to the hospital with critical injuries.

The crash happened near that airport that was crowded with planes and a restaurant that was crowded with people.

No one on the ground got hurt.
