PATRICK CO., Va. -

Patrick County School Board Superintendent Roger Morris resigned Thursday.

At a meeting Thursday night it was announced that the school board and Morris reached an agreement to terminate Morris’ employment.

Morris submitted his resignation Thursday. Morris will be out on leave until Jan. 31 when his resignation becomes effective.

Morris has been the subject of backlash for signing off on reassignments for 10 teachers over the summer. Off camera, he told WDBJ7's Justin Ward was a bunch of "small town junk." Morris later apologized for the comment.

Morris will be paid his regular salary from Feb. 1 to March 31. He will also be paid for unused leave accrued through Jan. 31 and receive health insurance through June 30.
