There are several unexpected developments out of Patrick County where the  head of the school district has come under fire.

The chairman of the school board, Ronnie Neal Terry, confirmed Superintendent Roger Morris is on paid medical leave. It started Monday, August 12th and will run through Friday, September 6th.

Morris has been the subject of backlash for signing off on reassignments for 10 teachers this summer. When it caused a stir, he responded by calling the issue a bunch of "small town junk".

After a more than two hour school board meeting on Thursday night, it was also decided at least four of those teachers that were moved to different sites, will get to return to their former positions starting next week. These teacher filed a formal complaint against the district.

Terry tells WDBJ7 there are still more issues to work out following the findings of a Department of Education audit.
