A Lynchburg woman died in a three-vehicle accident Thursday night in Bedford County.
70-year-old Sandra Duff was a passenger in a pick-up truck that crashed at the intersection of Graves Mill Road (Route 1425) and Route 1426 around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to Virginia State Police 29-year-old Christopher Pruitt was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram on Graves Mill Road at a high rate of speed. Investigators say Pruitt tried to pass a 2003 Dodge pick-up truck that was making a left turn. As Pruitt’s truck approached the intersection it hit the 2003 pick-up truck, which then hit a 2002 Nissan Sentra. The Nissan Sentra was stopped at the intersection.
Sandra Duff was a passenger in the 2003 pick up truck. She was wearing a seat belt. She was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital where she later died. Her husband, Herbert Wayne Duff was driving the 2003 pick up.
No charges have been filed.
*An earlier news release from Virginia State Police incorrectly identified Herbert Duff as the operator of the 2006 model truck that caused the crash.
