Roanoke County police have identified the man killed in an industrial accident this week as Daniel A. Emery. He was 54 years old and lived in Roanoke.
Roanoke County detectives say Emery was trying to unclog a bailing machine at the RDS facility Tuesday. Police say he entered the machine from the top, bypassing safety procedures and failing to turn the machine off. Emery was pulled into the machine and killed.
Police say they found no foul play and consider their investigation over. Detectives say the case could be investigated by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
A person was killed in an industrial accident at a Roanoke County recycling plant Tuesday afternoon.
Roanoke County police responded to the accident in the 7700 block of Enon Drive on Tuesday. They are not releasing further details. The victim is a 53-year-old man. His name will not be released until the next of kin have been notified.
Recycling and Disposal Solutions opened the facility on Enon Drive, near Walrond Park, in 2009. According to the company's website, the facility handles recycling from Roanoke and other communities.
