ROANOKE CO., Va. -

A Roanoke County woman is pleading for information after police found her friend’s body on a remote part of Rutrough Road.

Charles Perdue was found dead in the 4300 block of Rutrough Road on September 23. Investigators believe he was hit by a car and dropped off near the Explore Park, according to the Roanoke County Police Department.

Details around his death are sketchy and the woman who says she was like a mother to him wants to know who's behind it.

Perdue was last seen in the area along Bennington Street and Riverdale Road. Police say he frequented this area in the days before he died.

He was laid to rest Wednesday, but police and those close to him want answers about what caused his death.

"I haven't been able to sleep. It's breaking my heart,” Georgia Morris said.

Morris considered Charles Perdue family. She treated him like a son.

"I know the police are doing everything they can but I don't know who could be so heartless to do something like that. Everyone liked him,” Morris said.

Morris says his home in Southeast Roanoke is the only real home Perdue ever had. She says he may have had questionable friends and now, she fears the worst.

"We just took him in and we just loved him to death,” Morris said. "I think whoever did this to him, I think they did it on purpose. They meant to hurt him."

A scary thought for a woman who just wants some answers.

"Please, if anybody knows, come and tell what happened. Give his family some closure on him, he deserves that much,” Morris said.

At this point, police are treating this as an active investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Roanoke County police.
