ROANOKE, Va. -

An 18-year-old Roanoke man is dead after he was shot in a home on Queen Ann Drive in Roanoke Wednesday evening.

Tratavious McDuffie, 18, of Roanoke died after he was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Wednesday night for treatment of a gunshot wound.

The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive.

After witnesses were interviewed and evidence was collected at the scene, investigators say it appears that a teenage friend of McDuffie was handling a gun inside the home on Queen Ann Drive when it went off, striking McDuffie.

No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

One person was hurt in a shooting on Wednesday night on Queen Ann Drive in Roanoke.

The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive.  A police spokesman says there's no active search, but would not say if anyone is in custody. The victim was taken to a local hospital.

An eyewitness tells WDBJ7's David Kaplan that they heard two gunshots.

Queen Ann Drive is off Bennington Street in the Southeast part of Roanoke.

Two homes have yellow crime scene tape wrapped around them.
