A study that looked at consolidating the Roanoke Mail Distribution Center into a facility in Greensboro has been put on indefinite hold by the U.S. Postal Service.
A few years ago, the Postal Service announced it would study closing several distribution facilities in phases.
The first phase consolidated the Lynchburg facility into Roanoke. We reported last week that the second phase, which would have likely consolidated Roanoke into Greensboro, was postponed.
A USPS representative wouldn't give any details about the cancellation.
Union leaders say this is a good step, but aren't convinced this indefinite hold will stick.
