A Pulaski man has quit his job of 12 years to run across country to raise awareness for suicide prevention.

Tony Smith remembers having thoughts of suicide when he was around 13-years-old. He recently went through depression, and remembered how running was an outlet for him. After the death of actor Robin Williams, he knew what he had to do.

“Looking back on that time. I realize that I was depressed; that I had contemplated suicide and I was very close to taking that lethal step. But over the course of running and finding the release and comfort in that, I was able to kind of overcome that difficult time,” said Smith.
