RADFORD, Va. -

All around our region people are getting together to make Christmas happen for families that need a little help.

That goes for Grove United Methodist Church in Radford.

They've been collecting thousands of toys for children all around the area.

It's called "The Elf Shelf," and one of the main rooms is already filled up.

People are also giving cash donations and plenty of stores gave "The Elf Shelf" deep discounts.

"We have groups from sororities and fraternities and other groups at Radford University. We have retired professors from RU, we will soon have students from Radford High School when they get out of school,” Jean Umberger said.

The toys will be handed out this coming Friday and Saturday.
