BLACKSBURG, Va. -

Getting a child excited about going to class on a Saturday may sound impossible.

But a program at Virginia Tech is inspiring 9  to 12 year olds to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math, once they get older.

It's called Kids' Tech University, a semester-long program developed by the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute and Virginia 4-H.

Children and their parents can attend four interactive classes with scientists during the Spring 2014 semester. Classes will be held at Virginia Tech on January 25, February 22, March 22 and April 5.

Registration is $100.00 per student, and scholarships are available.
