It's going to be about a month before Martinsville City Council can review a study about converting the city into a town.
City council member Mark Stroud told WDBJ7, a study looking at all the impacts of a reversion was supposed to be released to the council earlier this year.
The city manager received a preliminary report but hasn't released specifics.
Stroud says the study should make a recommendation whether the city can convert into a town.
It examines what impacts this could have on schools, and city departments including law enforcement, fire and rescue squads.
