The ride-sharing program Uber is now in the Roanoke/Blacksburg area.
The company announced Thursday that along with this area, it added service to 22 college towns across the country. The company say it operates in 200 cities across the world.
Earlier this month Uber reached an agreement with the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles to allow the service to operate in the commonwealth.
Uber uses a mobile app to connect drivers and riders. Riders pay drivers through the app.
The company says the first five rides in the Roanoke/Blacksburg market are free until September 1.
