ROANOKE, Va. -

Students at Roanoke Catholic now have another option for uniform neckwear.

8th through 12th graders can now wear green bowties.

School faculty reps tell us students have been trying to do this for years, this year they finally said yes.

"I've got a lot jealousy notes from a couple of the seniors that are gone, and it's pretty good," said Danny Brajdic, who was integral in getting faculty to change their minds.

Brajdic says the reason bowties are cool is "self-explanatory".

The schools principal, Patrick Patterson, says the school ordered 40 bowties for boys and have already sold out.

Some of the students admit they had to take to YouTube to learn how to tie a bowtie.
