Roanoke City Schools announced the winner of a snowplow decoration contest on Monday.

Fallon Park Elementary School got more than 40 percent of the votes in an online voting contest. Fallon Park students will receive a pizza party. Twelve schools participated in the contest.

The students decorated snowplows for Roanoke’s Public Works Department. All 12 of the snowplows will be on Roanoke streets this winter.

“I applaud all the schools who took part in this public art project. These students demonstrated among other things creativity, a sense of humor, and an appreciation for what winter looks like in Roanoke,” Roanoke City Public Schools Fine Arts Coordinator Cari Gates wrote in a news release.

More than 3,000 people voted in the contest.

Twelve of Roanoke city schools decorated snow plows for Roanoke's Public Works Department.

Beginning Wednesday, October 16th, all 12 snow plows will all be on display in front of the Roanoke Civic Center.

Now, you can also vote for your favorite snow plow but you can only vote once from a particular IP address.

The snow plows will be used this winter in the part of the city where the school is located. This increases the chances that students will actually see their snow plow out on the streets.
