ROANOKE, Va. -

Roanoke Fire-EMS warns that flood waters are considered hazardous materials with possible sewage that can cause sickness, and kayaking, boating or swimming on flood waters should be avoided.

The warning comes after a man was spotted in a canoe on flood waters on Williamson Road under the Interstate 581 overpass.

Currently, the biggest concern for flooding in the city of Roanoke is Orange Avenue and Williamson Road, where roads are closed and completely submerged.

Right now, three swift water teams and tree crews are on standby because wind is expected with the next line of storms.
