ROANOKE, Va. -

Roanoke is going blue to support World Autism Awareness Day.

The Greater Roanoke Valley Autism Action Group met at the Entranceway Park Fountain Wednesday night.

The group placed lights inside the park fountain, turning it blue.

Parents we spoke with say awareness is key.

“Raising autism awareness is critical. One in 68 kids are diagnosed.... I didn't even know what it was until my son was diagnosed when he was three,” Marcella Smith said.

This was just one of many autism events held across the country.
