ROANOKE,Va. -

Roanoke Police Department and sheriff’s office along with emergency crews reached out to the community this morning for Crime Prevention Day.

Visitors got the opportunity to learn about crime prevention. Parents received information on how to handle bullying. Kids also got a chance to get a closer look at a police car and fire truck.

"Proper planning prevents potential problems. Maybe by being proactive they obtain and learn what they can do to protect them self and other in the community,” said Detective Frank Leftwich.
