ROANOKE, Va. -

Nearly eight months after it started, we checked with area  local insurance brokers to get their impressions of the Affordable Care Act.

Dennie Denison has been in the industry for 34 years and said this past year was certainly a challenge.

He has seen some lowered costs among customers, but says the majority are paying higher premiums and deductibles.

As for the ongoing political debate on the law, Denison says he thinks it's a good thing, hoping it will continue improving the system.

"I just hope they continue to look at this law and make some changes to make it easier on everybody cost-wise and benefit-wise," Denison said.

Denison said the vast majority of his clients on single plans extended their for another year so haven't dealt with a large shift in costs.
