Kids made a mad dash for Easter eggs at Jackson Park today in Roanoke. The Salvation Army sponsored the annual egg hunt.

More than 25,000 of them were filled with candy and spread out around the park. The organization has been holding the community egg hunts for more than 20 years. The free event welcomed children 12 and under.

"For these kids it's really exciting. The fact that they are able to get out, collect the eggs and gets some candy,” said Captain Ken Argot.

Those at the event also enjoyed cotton candy, facing painting and prizes.
