BEDFORD CO., Va. -

A 23-year-old man is dead after an early morning crash Saturday.

State Police say Garrett Charles McMahon died from injuries received when his car went off the road on route 757.

PRESS RELEASE FROM VSP:

The Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal crash that occurred yesterday morning around 8:10 am on Route 757 one half mile north of Route 635 in Bedford County.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound on Route 757 when the vehicle run off the left side of the roadway and struck a fence.

The driver of the Elantra Garrett Charles McMahon, age 23, of Roanoke, Va. was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash but died a short time later.

McMahon was not not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.
