ROANOKE, Va. -

A Roanoke man is $1 million richer.

Donald Stanley won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s All About the Benjamins Scratcher game.

Stanley bought his ticket at the Kroger on Valley Gateway Boulevard in Roanoke.

Instead of taking the $1 million paid out over 30 years, Stanley chose to take the one-time cash payout of $537,393 before taxes.

According to a news release from the Lottery, Stanley said he was “in shock” when he realized his ticket was the big winner.

“I just moseyed out of the store,” he said.

The Virginia Lottery says as Stanley claimed his prize he said, "I'm grateful and humbled by this."

Stanley plans to use the money to take care of his family.

The Virginia Lottery also gave Kroger a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

There are still five million-dollar prizes that have not been claimed.
