RICHMOND, Va. -

Roanoke Mayor David Bowers joined a group of mayors from around the state who met with Governor Terry McAuliffe Tuesday afternoon.

The mayors were invited to the Executive Mansion, where the lunch menu likely included a discussion of Medicaid expansion.

Bowers, a Democrat, supports the Governor's plan to extend health insurance benefits to up to 400-thousand Virginians.

Before the meeting, Bowers said he was also planning to raise other issues, including the return of passenger rail to the Star City, and Roanoke's support for school start legislation that would allow classes to begin before Labor Day.
