Roanoke City Police are asking drivers to pay closer attention to pedestrian in the morning.

Day light saving time makes early mornings a little bit darker. Those traveling by foot or by bicycle maybe a little harder to see. This goes especially for kids who are walking to school or to the bus stop.

“It's dark later into the morning now because of the time change, said Lt. Jennings Tardy. “You still have the pedestrians out here that are always going to be out there at 6:30 in the morning and you just can't see them now.”

Police say wearing some sort of reflective gear is helpful for drivers. Some backpacks have reflective strips that can alert drivers when someone is crossing at an intersection.
