ROANOKE, Va. -

The Booker T. Washington Park pool in Roanoke will stay open six days a week, starting on Saturday.

The pool opened last month, and used to be open three days a week.

The Roanoke YMCA and Roanoke Parks and Recreation have formed a partnership to allow the pool to stay open every day except Wednesdays.

Admission is $3 for people over age 16 and $2 for ages five to 15. Children four and under are free.

The pool will be open until August 10.

“The YMCA has a long history of operating aquatic programs and properties. We’re excited to have this opportunity to serve more people in the Roanoke Valley and to respond to a community need,” said Kirk Family YMCA Aquatics Director, Keith Gaines.

“Adding three days a week to our Washington Park Pool schedule is a ‘win-win’ for everybody,” said Steve Buchor, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We’re all extremely excited to start this new extended schedule which will allow the neighborhood and nearby communities to take advantage of one more wonderful active-living opportunity here in Roanoke.”
