ROANOKE, Va. -

Roanoke's main library is now closed for renovations.

That library in the downtown area will stay closed for a year or more while workers completely redo the first floor and mezzanine.

When it reopens late next year, there will be self-checkout stations, family restrooms, views of the newly-renovated Elmwood Park, and other new features.

Starting December 2nd, Roanoke's other libraries will have extended hours to make-up for the main library being closed.
