School leaders in Botetourt County say safety improvements to Route 460 have significantly cut down issues for bus drivers on the road.
Buses going to and from Colonial Elementary School were having problems turning onto the road. The speed limit is 60 miles per hour on the road.
Three weeks ago, signs went up signaling a 35 mile-an-hour zone during school pickup and drop-off times.
Since then, school buses and neighbors who live in the area have had an easier time coming in and going out.
"I think it's a really good change. It helps the buses get out better, makes it a lot safer for the kid, and I'll say helps going into work," said Missy Fralin, who lives near the school.
Some drivers we spoke with criticized the new signs, saying the sudden reduction in the speed limit from 60 to 35 miles an hour is dangerous for drivers.
