There is still time to invest in some Salem High School box seats for football season.
The boxes went on sale this week. The high school has sold five so far.
They have two eight seaters left. Those are selling for $1,500.
They also have one four seater box left for $750.
The boxes include season tickets, two parking passes and two all-season Salem sports athletic passes.
All the money raised will go toward the athletic program.
A new football season has one high school looking for new ways to raise money to make sure the teams can actually get to the games.
Salem High School is giving new meaning to premium seats.
For the first time in school history, they are offering box seats for the football season, but it comes with a price.
Beginning on Monday, the school will sell eight boxes within Salem Stadium for spectators to use for the entire season.
A total of eight boxes will be sold to raise funds for the athletic program.
Six of the boxes hold eight people and they will be sold for $1,500. Two of the other boxes can seat four people and they will be sold for $750.
The boxes include season tickets, two parking passes and two all-season Salem sports athletic passes. The passes have a retail value of $200.
Salem High School Athletic Director and Assistant Principal Chris King said the school system has been faced with many financial challenges when it comes to getting athletes to different games in the region.
King said the money raised by selling these boxes will go to the athletic program's transportation fund.
"We have 36 teams at Salem High School that we need to provide transportation to and from ball games. And with the economy and the recession it's been hard to make ends meet, and I just figured it would be a good opportunity to make more revenue to help with those transportation costs,” he said.
King said he's already had a number of people call and express interest in the box seats.
They will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
