Seven arrested in Montgomery County prostitution sting
Seven people from around the area were charged in an online prostitution sting Thursday in Montgomery County.
According to a news release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, cyber investigators began targeting people offering sex through websites.
"The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office identified a growing criminal element using technologies to facilitate crimes,” captain Robert New of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office wrote in the news release. “The office, working with our local and federal law enforcement partners began focusing on this new trend. This operation was part of a larger and broader response to the drug problem within the county.”
The following people were arrested during the operation:
Misty D. Blankenship, 35, of Pulaski (Charge - Prostitution)
Curtis Blankenship, 44, of Pulaski (Charge - Aiding Prostitution)
Tiffany N. Lafferty, 29, of Roanoke (Charge - Prostitution)
Stapheno O. Greene, 38, Lynchburg (Charge - Prostitution)
Tammy L. Janney, 30, of Roanoke (Charge - Prostitution)
Kevin W. Yopp, 30, of Roanoke (Charge - Aiding Prostitution)
Rukhsana B. Faizi, 25, of Roanoke (Charge - Prostitution)
Several agencies participated in the sting, including the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Christiansburg Police Department, Blacksburg Police Department, and the FBI’s Roanoke and Richmond offices.
