The man accused of killing his wife Friday night in Appomattox has been arrested.

Aubrey Evans was arrested Monday morning in Washington County on Interstate 81.

According to Appomattox County Sheriff Barry Letterman, investigators got word that Evans might be in the Tri-Cities area. A Washington County deputy pulled him over, and he was detained without incident at 10:58 a.m. at mile marker 19 on I-81.

Evans is accused of shooting his estranged wife, Laura Evans, on Friday night at the Marathon Quick-E gas station on Court Street.

Aubrey Evans, who goes by the name Butch, is the former owner of Evans Barbershop in Appomattox.

The Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police and U.S. Marshals Service are still on the hunt for Aubrey Evans, who authorities local man who killed his wife Friday night.

During the course of the investigation, law enforcement has been able to place Evans in Georgia early Saturday morning.  Investigators have reason to believe he may be headed for the Florida Keys or western Texas near Abilene.

Appomattox County dispatchers tell Your Hometown News Leader they're continuing to search for Aubrey Evans. He's accused of shooting his believed estranged wife, Laura Evans.

Deputies consider Evans dangerous. If you see him, call police.

Appomattox County's sheriff has confirmed that the victim in the shooting is Aubrey Evans' wife, Laura Evans.

The sheriff says they hope to charge Aubrey Evans with First Degree Murder.

He is also facing charges for Shooting Into An Occupied Vehicle and Use Of A Firearm In Commission Of  A Felony.

WDBJ7 spoke to people who were there when the shooting happened.

"It makes you think, it does.  It's reason to be sober about it because you never know, people are crazy these days," said Quick-E employee Gail Hash

Sources familiar with the Evans family say that the victim of Friday's shooting is a Laura Evans, the estranged wife of Aubrey Evans. 

Aubrey Evans, who goes by the name Butch, is the former owner of Evans Barbershop in Appomattox. 

These same sources tell WDBJ7 that Aubry Evans is the person that shot his wife Laura at the Marathon Quik-e gas station on Court Street.

Appomattox County Sheriff Barry Letterman says that his office is looking for a man named Aubrey Bascom Evans, III in connection with the shooting.

Evans is considered armed and dangerous.

Officers say the shooting happened at 4:30 Friday afternoon at the Marathon Quik-E gas station on Court Street.
